What do we do in the initial consultation appointment? Will therapy start then?
During your initial visit, we will conduct a thorough review of your mental and medical health history to gain a comprehensive understanding of your unique situation. Based on our findings, we will collaborate with you to develop an integrated treatment plan that may include therapy, behavioral goals, and/or medication as appropriate. This first visit, and sometimes a follow-up visit, serve as the foundation for your personalized treatment plan.
Do you do therapy?
At Primrose Psychiatry, we believe that therapy is a crucial component of mental health treatment. In some cases, patients may come to us with an existing therapist and are seeking only medication, while others may prefer to see us for medication but receive therapy elsewhere. Regardless of the situation, we collaborate with all outside therapists to form a cohesive treatment team. Our priority is to work together to help our patients achieve optimal mental health and well-being.
How long are appointments?
The initial evaluation typically lasts for 60 minutes, providing ample time to get a comprehensive understanding of your mental and medical health history. For medication management, follow-up visits are typically 25 minutes, and for therapy appointments, with or without medication, the duration is 45 minutes.
What is the cancellation policy?
We understand that sometimes appointments need to be rescheduled, and we kindly request that changes be made at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments that are cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full appointment fee. We reserve dedicated slots for each of our patients and do not double book, so timely cancellations allow us to offer those slots to other patients in need of care.
What if I'm sick, or traveling- can we do remote appointments?
Follow-up appointments can be scheduled over a HIPAA-compliant, medically encrypted video software to ensure the confidentiality of your health information. The video software is user-friendly and free of charge for you. This option provides a convenient and secure way to conduct appointments from the comfort of your own home or location of your choice.
What do I do in case of an emergency?
We strive to respond to messages within 24-48 hours, though in many cases, Dr. Chen may respond sooner. However, if you are experiencing a mental health emergency, such as severe drug reactions or side effects, suicidal thoughts, thoughts of harming others, or any other urgent matter, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room for immediate evaluation.
